Tifenbach Residence

Inspired by the panoramic view overly looking East Grand Traverse Bay, this family home and vineyard is a MAC custom homes project and was basically gutted and started over from scratch. The ceilings were re troweled, and new hand scraped wide plank wood flooring and custom paneled walls and trim throughout the home.

Wonderful clients who let me “run with it” and gave me the privilege of going through their lifelong collection of furniture, art and keep sakes. I was able to incorporate heirlooms including an Asian dressing screen and vintage Majolica pottery collection. The fabulous water color over the fireplace of their barn & silo was the inspiration for the living room. Dining chairs and fabrics were fabricated, and the room was then built from this foundation. The ding room rush/grass rug mimics the rush furniture in the sunroom. I found vintage style bar stools with nearly the same finish as the pickled oak table.

I was able to weave together colonial, early American, art deco with midcentury modern that represents the stories of their lives.
